Operator

Is the main gear that is turned to move the sash along a track to open and close the window. These can have many different arm lengths and configurations. Some come with covers already incorporated and some do not.

Cover

Sometimes already attached to the operator but most times is a separate snap-on item that is a cosmetic feature covering the unsightly operator. Frequently available in a wide variety of materials and colors.

Handle

Are just that a handle that is attached to the operator. They come in various styles such as folding and butterfly (T-style) that will help in various applications such as behind sink faucets or more practical to keep them out of the way. Also, can be found in a wide variety of materials and colors. 

Vent (sash) Lock

Mechanism that will secure the sash in the closed position and prevent operation. The sash must be completely closed to ensure proper lock engagement.

Sash Limiter

Optional​​ device that prevents a sash from opening beyond a certain point. These have become more widely used due to regulations for rental properties but can also be practical for families with small children.

Hinge Assembly

Hinge assembly connects the operator to the active sash. The hinges come in different lengths and styles. The one picture is the most common one we see in our area.
